The name refers to the morning light on the imposing mountains to the west.

Situated in the heart of the village, it occupies a commanding position overlooking the entire valley. The conversion of this centuries-old, three-storied "casa rustica" with its massive stone walls was done thoroughly and in such a way that every window has a panoramic view of the walled city of Barga far below and the surrounding lovely and historic valley, filled with picturesque villages and encompassed by the rugged mountains. The Apuan Alps are to the west and the Apennines to the east.
