The Villa L Aurora di Montagna

The entrance to the property, framed by a large stone archway and wide stone stairs, is through a tall iron gate. The first door on the left at the gate opens into a spacious entry. The second door on the left, through the gate, opens into the recently redecorated kitchen/dining room, which contains the following: Kitchen
  • Antique pine furniture and natural pine cupboards with work surfaces for china, glass and cutlery, which are, of course, provided

  • Stainless steel sinks and drainer

  • New refrigerator with granite work top

  • Solid pine dining table that seats six

  • Long, tile work top

  • New family-sized combination gas/electric stove with oven

  • Ceramic tiled floors and cooking area

Directly accessed from the kitchen/dining room is the living room with its spectacular view to the south down the valley. Living Room This room has a decorative fireplace, new lounge chairs and couch, a coffee table, a desk, a libreria (book, map, brochure and CD music cabinet), side tables, lamps, and an FM/CD Stereo Player. (No TV!)  Adjacent to the living room is the large entrance hall with its staircase leading to the upper landing.  The wood-burning stove in this hall will take the chill off early spring and late fall mornings.

The house has three bedrooms, two having chestnut-beamed ceilings, which adjoin the upper landing, as does the upstairs shower room and the small upstairs WC. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, period furniture, and two frescos painted by the artist who lived here after World War I; the second bedroom contains a queen-size bed and a single bed; and the third bedroom has full-length wooden bunk beds. The couch in the terrace sitting room also converts into a queen-size bed.

The front entrance, shaded by a grape arbor, is on a stone balcony.  A curved stone staircase descends to the lawn and the garden terrace shaded by another larger grape arbor that looks out upon the verdant valley below.  A stone walk leads from the garden terrace through another smaller iron gate to a terracotta-tiled terrace that extends the villa's sweeping view of this magnificent valley.  This terrace has its own private ambiance with chairs surrounding a circular granite table at which to relax or dine. Terrace  Or choose one of the folding sun lounges on which to lie near the small herbal garden, the flowering roses, and the pungent jasmine vines that hang over a portion of the terrace.

Off this tiled terrace is another inside living area comprised of a sitting room/study/bedroom; a tiled utility room with sink; and a newly installed, tiled, full bathroom with tub.  The sitting area is also fully furnished with upholstered chairs and a couch that opens into another queen-size bed.

Across the small lawn is a stone-floored pergola canopied with grape vines.  A more idyllic spot for enjoyment of a glass of Chianti Classico - or even lunch - in the clear mountain air and bright Tuscan sun would be hard to imagine.  Incidentally, the Tuscan light is special; it has been inspiring artists for centuries.
